Lazy Summer Home

This painting is inspired by a charming house I saw while riding my bike along the beach in Kapa’a. I often daydream of one day owning a little vacation home on a beach where I could build an outdoor art studio and spend my days painting while listening to the sound of the ocean. In these daydreams the little house is always painted aqua. So while riding by this scene I just had to take a photo. I quickly took my phone out of the bike basket to snap a couple reference photos. As you can imagine this takes quite a bit of coordination of which I do not have. I dropped my phone and nearly crashed my bike in the process. Nevertheless through sheer determination I managed to secure a few slightly blurry snapshots. With this artwork my intention was to convey not only the dynamic energy of my bike ride but also the encompassing warmth of the Hawaiian sun.
